Who we are…
Booked Away was founded by author besties, Elouise Tynan and Stephanie Hazeltine, who wanted to bring together the bookish community they love so much in a brand new way.
Elouise is a former journalist turned romance author who has a top-selling college sports romance series. Stephanie is a school teacher turned successful thriller and romantic suspense author, both living in Melbourne.
They’re passionate about reading and writing, and were searching for way to be more involved in the reader community. So Booked Away was born!
How we do it…
Choose your Bookish Retreat and book with your friends or fly solo! (We’ll make sure anyone who books together can room together, if desired.)
Turn up, chill out, and read - that’s the whole deal!
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own food or snacks, as all our retreat properties have full kitchens. You’ll also receive a gift bag in your room with the important stuff every reader needs.
Usually we have a quick welcome drink and some snacks on arrival, so everyone can introduce themselves (or not, if that’s not your thing!). Stephanie and Elouise are there the whole time to facilitate the entire retreat and are always willing to talk about books, or you can pick their brains about writing.
Bookish chats tend to happen after each meal - breakfast we chat about what we’re planning to read, lunch we swoon over what we’ve read, and dinner we decompress over all the things that happened in our books that day, (or something like that!).
Booked Away Retreats are designed for book lovers by book lovers, so you can make your trip whatever you want it to be. Just know you’ll always find a willing ear to listen to you rave about a story!
What we do…
We’ve set out to create luxurious-yet-affordable spaces for readers to get away (together) and focus on reading and chatting about all things books.
Our retreats are relaxing, not action-packed. Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, everything is at your own pace. Book chats, socialising, and even meals, can all be opted in or out depending on your mood in the moment. And there’s no reason for you to leave the retreat accommodation if you don’t want to - you can come and unwind in one place to just read.
